2025 Scholarship and Community Opportunities

City of Charleston 2025-26 Mayor's Youth Commission (MYC)

We are thrilled to announce that applications are now open for the 2025-26 Mayor’s Youth Commission (MYC)! This opportunity is available to current 8th–11th grade students attending public, private, homeschool, or charter schools in Charleston County or Berkeley County School District (schools within the City of Charleston). Selected members will serve a term from March 2025 to May 2026, with the potential to participate in multiple terms throughout their high school career.

About the Mayor’s Youth Commission
The MYC meets monthly with the Office for Children, Youth, and Families (OCYF) and quarterly with Mayor Cogswell. Members provide valuable leadership, input, and ideas to address community challenges facing youth. Through collaboration, they develop strategies and implement initiatives that empower their peers and positively impact the community.

Application Process and Eligibility
To apply, students must meet the following criteria and complete the outlined steps:

1. Be a current 8th–11th grade student during the 2024-25 school year, enrolled in a public, private, charter, or homeschool in Charleston County, or attending a Berkeley County School District school within the City of Charleston.
2. Complete the MYC application in its entirety by clicking HERE.
3. Submit the application no later than Monday, March 17, 2025.
