NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – Next Tuesday, Trident United Way invites you to rise up against COVID-19 and help those negatively affected by the global pandemic by taking part in GivingTuesday.
Tuesday, Dec. 1 is our annual GivingTuesday, where we ask the community to come together to finically support a special cause. This year, all proceeds will go to Trident United Way’s Resource Connection Centers in Summerville and Moncks Corner.
Both facilities provide navigation help and agency referrals to clients who need assistance in the forms of financial, food, utilities and housing. Due to COVID-19, assistance requests to our Resource Connection Centers and 211 Resource Line are at record levels.
“COVID-19 numbers are at record levels nationally and thousands of people in the Tri-County community need our help,” said Amy Maciariello, Trident United Way director of strategy and innovation. “GivingTuesday is the chance for all of us to do what we can to give our friends and neighbors a ray of hope this holiday season.”
Resource Connection Center service snapshot (past three months)
- Nearly 800 people served
- Nearly 1700 services provided
- Nearly 900 phone referrals
GivingTuesday will also feature a unique way to thank our donors.
A group of Trident United Way supporters and volunteers will do a “Main Street Thank You” to the community outside of our Resource Connection Center at 325 E. Main Street in downtown Moncks Corner. The group will rally with signs and balloons to wave and bring warm greetings to people passing by. The event starts at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1. (We will provide video/pictures of the event if media are unable to attend)
